Widespread Mercury Pollution in US Streams

Mercury Contamination will be more serious than estimated by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This report was released on May by U.S. Geological Survey.

David Krabbenhoft, coauthor of the study, said that "it appears the recent mercury enrichment of the sampled Pacific Ocean waters is caused by emissions originating from fallout near the Asian coasts”. Even worse, scientiests predicted a 50% increase of mercury contamination in the ocean will increase by 2050.

We already knew the worst tragedy caused by mercury contamination in MINAMATA. (photo. Wikipedia)
